Getting Cricky "U R SO SWEET" Blog Hop -- Nuts about YOU!! :)

Welcome to the "U R SO SWEET" Getting Cricky Blog Hop!!

We're so happy you could join us for this month's Getting Cricky Design Team Blog Hop!!  We have an EXTRA SPECIAL hop for you this month -- All week long, the Design Team has been featuring many of Kristal's stamp sets in anticipation of the hop...  If you've missed out on any of the week, be sure to check out our previous posts for MORE THAN 100 CREATIVE IDEAS and PROJECTS using Kristal's stamps as well as giveaways, promotions, tips, and tutorials!!

If you've hopped along from Lisa then you are in the right place!! If you are just joining me from your dashboard, or reading this via email, please be sure to CLICK HERE to start at the beginning with Kristal's blog (you'll want to catch up on all the FUN!!)...

I'm super excited to share my project with you tonight because this is how I feel when I think about YOU!!
I'm TOTALLY nuts about you!! :) tee hee...  I mean, I really, really, really, really, really am!!  :)  Without you, I wouldn't lay awake at night thinking what I could make to share with you...  You are really fantastic, and I think you should know!! :)
I'm also nuts about this adorable little squirrel that can be found on the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge...  Who wouldn't smile upon seeing this sweet little guy???  I attached him with one of my homemade wiggle wires (YES, I had plenty of requests for a wiggle wire tutorial, so it's coming next week....) so he just bounces to and fro....  I did add the little hands so he could hold the heart in front of him...
I started with a canister of some of our favorite Emerald nuts (peanut butter chocolate)...  These things are crazy good...  Almost as good as the Emerald almonds dusted with cocoa powder...  YUM.  The-Girl-Child always loved having some of these in her lunch...  And, yes, I still make sure she has a stash of these while she's away at college. :)
I wrapped the canister with three layers of cardstock -- a 2.5" wide strip of red, a 2" wide strip of pink, and a 1/5" strip of ivory (embossed with the Sizzix hearts and vines embossing folder)...  There's a peek at my wiggle wire too -- Bet you can figure out how to make these even without my help!! :)
For some extra fun, I attached the letters with wiggle wires too...  Those wires just add a wee bit more excitement to any project!! :)
The wiggle wires also allow me to twist the letters in any direction I need to -- so I could make them look a little, um...  nutty!! :)  Unfortunately, I cannot remember which cartridge these letters came from...  If you know, leave it in the comments and I'll send you something special if you're the first (and you're right)...
And finally...  The sentiment "about you"...  Of course, this can be found on the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set...  This is the set I've been featuring all week long (it's awesome for your owly and not-so-owly projects!!)...  For more details or to make this set YOURS, please click on the preview below:

Butterfly Kisses Blogaversary Blog Hop and Getting Cricky Preview Day Five - "Happiness Is..."

YAY for Thursday!!  I'm so excited that you're here today!! :)  Not only is it DAY FIVE of the Getting Cricky Pre-Hop Week, but it's also the Blog-iversary of my friend Kari at Purplefuntastick Creations -- And she's having a HOP to CELEBRATE today!!  All week long I've been stretching my brain to find non-owl uses for the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set (not that there's anything wrong with using this set for every owl card, layout, and project you can think of, BUT isn't it FUN to find MORE WAYS to use an already AWESOME stamp set?!?!?)...  And so...  I hope you enjoy what I'm excited to show you today!!  But before I get ahead of myself...

Kari is celebrating her blog's one-year anniversary (which is Jan 20th).  I remember Kari's blog in her very beginning days, as I think we "met" soon after she joined the Blog-O-Sphere...  It's hard not to admire her passion and honesty...  She can say that everyone else is a blessing to her, but truth be told -- She's truly the blessing to everyone else!! :)

If you've arrived here from my quirky and creative friend, Ellen, then you are in the right place!!  If you've just popped in to visit my blog or are reading this via email and you'd like to join the FUN, then please CLICK HERE to start at the beginning with Kari's blog -- because I want you to have a chance to win some of the AWESOME blog candy (details below)...  And I sure don't want you to miss any of the fun!! :)

So without further ado lets get this party started!!  Since the only requirement for this party was to put a butterfly (or butterflies) on our creations, I decided to make this....
My standard A2 card (4.25"x5.5") is bright and colorful to hopefully rush Spring along (yeah, yeah, I know that Winter just started!!)...  I was introduced to a fabulous new challenge blog, Digi Darla's Challenges, earlier this week -- I already have my eye on a few of Digi Darla's images, but I was EXTRA excited to see that, for each challenge, she's offering a FREE image!!  WOW!!  This beautiful "Butterfly Fairy" is PERFECT for Kari!!  I'll be entering this card in the current challenge there as well -- The theme for the week is "Happiness Is..." -- So they want to know what happiness is to YOU (more details HERE)...  My happiness always comes from...  Thinking about my friends and family  :)
Since I do not own any Copics (YET), I settled for coloring the image with my SU! Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen...  It's difficult to tell in the pictures (can I get a little sunlight???), but I fussy-cut around the fairy and popped her up from the white layer underneath...  I also added some iridescent Stickles to her wings for some sparkly-sparkle.  The yellow background paper is embossed with the Cuttlebug "Polka Dots" embossing folder, the purple polka dot paper is from the Creative Memories "Cheerful" tone-on-tone paper pack, and that fabulous polka dot ribbon is another find from my stash (if you've been visiting me this week, then you might be noticing a trend here...  I'm trying to sample more of my hidden ribbon stash -- And I'm even sharing some this Friday night too -- Be sure to come back and check out the details!!)... Anywhoooo, my wonderful friends over at Celebrate The Occasion have an ANY THEME Challenge this week, but ya must use POLKA DOTS!!  Well, I used 'em, so I'll be entering my card in their challenge (HERE) as well...  :)
Now how about that sentiment???  Can you believe this is yet ANOTHER mix-n-match sentiment found on the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set???  I've been featuring this set ALL week long for the Getting Cricky Preview Week (Did you miss Sunday's snowman card? Or Monday's GROOVY giraffe and "shag pillow" cards?  Or Tuesday's Valentine Favor Boxes?  Or yesterday's Bird-day Card???  I hope you'll stop over and check all of those out!!  If I've finally convinced you that your craft supplies are simply incomplete without this set and you must rectify this before one more day passes, please make this set YOURS by clicking here OR by clicking on the image below...  AND...

I have BIG NEWS!!  To qualify for FREE SHIPPING on your purchase, be sure to enter amyfreeship at check out!!  WOWZERS!!  Gotta love a deal like that!! :)

Getting Cricky Preview Week -- Day Four -- Happy Bird-day!! :)

Happy Wednesday, everyone!! :) It's DAY FOUR of the Getting Cricky Pre-Hop Week, and I'm super excited to show you my card today... I've just been having a BLAST trying to come up with non-owl uses for the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set (there are a TON of OWL ideas though -- be sure to check the stamp set out!!)...

And remember to mark your calendars for THIS Friday night, January 20th at 9pm EST...  Cuz that's when my fabulous Design Team Sisters and I will be showing you our Getting Cricky "U R SO SWEET" Valentine Blog Hop!!  You will be AMAZED at all of the AWESOME projects we'll be featuring with our FAVORITE K Andrew Designs Stamp Sets!! :)

For my project today, I've created a Happy Birthday BIRD-day card!!  :)  Tweet!!  Tweet!! :)
I embossed the background cardstock with the Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls embossing folder.  The bird is cut at 3.5" in all layers from the Create A Critter Cricut Cartridge.  I found the talk bubble on the Smiley Cards Cricut Cartridge and sized that with my gypsy to about 1.5"x1.5".
My "extra" flowers were punched with the Creative Memories Friendship Micro Maker Punch (it's soon to be discontinued, but you can still find it here while supplies last).  The gems are from Creative Charms, and the ribbon was a clearance rack grab-bag find (if you LOVE it like I do, be sure to find out how to make some YOURS this Friday!!)...  Everything is distressed with SU!'s Creamy Caramel ink too. :)
Tee-hee -- Isn't that sentiment just perfect???  As I mentioned, you can find this fun mix-n-match sentiment on the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set...  I've been featuring this set ALL week long for the Getting Cricky Preview Week (Did you miss Sunday's snowman card? Or Monday's GROOVY giraffe and "shag pillow" cards?  Or how about yesterday's Valentine Favor Boxes???  I hope you'll stop over and check all of those out!!  If you find you can't go on without this set for one more day, please make this set YOURS by clicking here OR by clicking on the image below...  AND...

Link Up Love Party and Getting Cricky Preview Day THREE -- Valentine Kisses!! :)

Double-Whammy Tuesday, everyone!! :)  Wait, wait...  You say it's THURSDAY???  Whoopsies!!  My post was lost in Never-Never-Land -- tee hee...  Well, I didn't want to wait any longer to show you what I've got!! :)

So why is it a Double-Whammy Tuesday Thursday???  Well, friends and fans...  It's time for another Link Up Love Party with K Andrew AND the Getting Cricky Pre-Hop Preview Day THREE...  All this week, the Getting Cricky Design Team is showcasing some of the most creative ideas they can muster for our week-long, jam-packed, fun-filled week of excitement!!  Ya see, Kristal just released FOUR more awesome, wonderful, very cool stamp sets...  But we didn't want any of our "old" favorites to be forgotten, so we challenged ourselves to come up with a handful (or half dozen) of the very best projects we could share with you this week...  At the bottom of this post, please be sure to visit my Design Team Sisters to see what they can't wait to show you too -- And be sure to check out all of our daily posts for MORE THAN 100 new projects and ideas to get the MOST out of your K Andrew Designs Stamp Sets!! :)

The Link Up Love Party (LULP) is a fun and creative way to find new blogs to follow and new friends to share...  To participate in the party, you'll want to sign up HERE and follow the guidelines...  And then...  Let the FUN begin!!  The theme this month is VALENTINES, so let's see what ya got!! :)

For Preview Day Three and the LULP, I've created these very fun Valentine Favor Boxes...
These tiny little boxes were cut with a Sizzix die that's been collecting dust in my craft room...  And since I decided that this year I need to use it or lose it, I was quick to think of something I could make to keep this fun die around!! :)  After cutting out the little boxes from a light tan cardstock, I sent them back through my BigShot with a Sizzix "Hearts and Vines" embossing folder (TIP: Should you decide to make some little embossed treat boxes, I highly recommend assembling the boxes and then DISassembling the boxes before embossing...  This will create a bit of "fold-memory" for the boxes and you won't cry over crooked folds and torn edges...  Ask me how I know....).
I distressed the embossing with some Stampin' Up! Real Red ink (because I LOVE tan and red together -- reminds me of wearing penny loafers and red pants in the 80s....  Now that's fashion!!) and re-assembled my little boxes adding a thin line of liquid glue to the itty-bitty, teensy-weensy tab on the side of the box...  HOWEVER, before closing them up, one more little goodie needed to be added....
As you can see, the paper ribbons are stamped (SU!'s Chocolate Chip) with the "kisses" and the "{heart}" found on the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set...  After stamping the strips, I "curled" them much like you curl curling ribbon -- by sliding the blade of my scissors along the strip (I do this on both sides)...  I can then manipulate the "ribbons" to tie and keep a curve in them (neat, huh???).  The ribbon strips were also distressed with SU!'s Real Red.

As I mentioned though, before tying the "ribbon" onto the handles, they needed something special packed inside so that I could send a few of these off the The-Girl-Child and The-Boy-Child (and maybe even The-Boy-Child's-The-Girlfriend)...  This idea comes from a memory of those two silly kiddos anyway...  Way back in the day, when they were only about 4 and 5 (and also inseparable), they found themselves in a bit of a conundrum...  One (or the other) of them had decided to make some sort of concoction involving peanut butter, bananas, footy pajamas, and an overgrown yellow lab named The-Dusty-Dog...  I think you can see where this might be going...  Seeing as most dogs like peanut butter (and The-Dusty-Dog was no exception), a tussle ensued and the only peanut butter remaining was glued to fronts (and backs and bottoms) of their footy pajamas...  These two were never quick to just give up on a plan (especially if it might possibly have involved bringing their mommy breakfast in bed before the crack of dawn), so they put their little minds together and hatched an even better plan...  I could smell them before I could see them in the darkness of the room (the discussion continues today as to how much peanut butter there REALLY was)...  But I finally managed to make out two figures with cupped hands, huge grins, and bright eyes headed towards me (realizing too late that I should have quickly thrown the really-too-big-to-fit-in-our-own-washer-comforter out of "harm's" way)...

"Oh!  What do you have for me?" I said tentatively (thinking that it was always possible that one or both of them had a frog, a fish, or some other wet and/or wiggly creature cupped between their hands)...

"We brought you THIS!" The-Girl-Child shouted as they released the surprise they held captive...

On first glance, it might have appeared to be a trick...  Or perhaps something disappearing into the dark...  But The-Boy-Child was quick to match his little sister's exuberance...  "We filled our hands with kisses, Mom!!  Don't let them get away!!"

And so, before tying the "ribbon" onto the handles, I blew plenty of (air) kisses into them and then sealed them up QUICK!! :)  I guess they're right when they say "Good things come in small packages"....

Now...  If you're ready to make some boxes full of kisses, you're gonna need the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set...  And the BEST way to make this set YOURS is by clicking here OR by clicking on the image below...  BUT WAIT!!  (any chance that sounds like one of the "only on tv" ads???)...

I have BIG NEWS!!  To qualify for FREE SHIPPING on your purchase during our FUN preview week and Blog Hop, be sure to enter amyfreeship at check out!!  WOWZERS!!  Maybe you'll want to grab a set for a friend too!! :)

K Andrew Designs

While you're there, be sure to check out the FREE Mini sets you can select when your purchase is $25 or more too!! :)
I hope you'll take a few moments to link up YOUR Valentine project in the Link Up Love Party over at Getting Cricky...  I can't WAIT to see what you create!! :)

Until next time, I hope you'll enjoy a few more projects....

All About the 70's Blog Hop and Getting Cricky Preview Day Two -- I Love the Night Life!! :)

Welcome to the "All About the 70's" Blog Hop!!

We're so happy you could join us for this super-fun hop showcasing cards, layouts and projects that feature anything and everything related to the 70's!!   So pull out your bell-bottoms and peace signs, and join us for the FUN...  You'll find an array of ideas throughout this hop -- From decorations to gift ideas and more, we hope you'll enjoy each and every GROOVY project along the way!!  This is a TWO-DAY hop, so be sure to check it all out (besides, we have a FAR OUT prize for a random someone who visits and comments on each stop for each day!!)...

We can guarantee some psychedelic excitement for this event... So let's get hopping!!  If you've hopped over from my cool friend, Jamie, then you are in the right spot!!  If you've just popped in to visit my blog or are reading this via email and you'd like to join our FUN, then please CLICK HERE to start at the beginning with Lynda's blog...

For the hop today, I have TWO Dy-No-Mite cards for ya to check out!! Ya see, I meant to show you one of them yesterday, but I was draggin' and fell behind... So kick back and chill... And I'll show ya what I've got!! :)
Now, back in the days of The Brady Bunch and Bell Bottoms, the cool thing my big brother would do on Friday nights is go to the Roller Rink...  I was an awkward kid and perms were all the rage, but on the days I got to ride to the rink with my brother, I thought I was really something special!!  Of course, he didn't pay much attention to me when we got inside, but decked out in my favorite light blue bell bottoms and sporting some roller skates with homemade pom-poms, I was in my own little world of JOY!!  :)  And when they played that Alicia Bridges song, despite the fact that I had NO idea what it meant, I sure liked doing my Boogie-Roller-Skating around the rink...  Now, come on...  Who doesn't dance in their seat when they hear this song:

(If you can't see the video above, or prefer to watch it on YouTube, please CLICK HERE)

I can assure you that I thought "ACK-SHON" had something to do with showing off your ability to hold hands with a friend and spin-spin-spin in the center of the skate floor...  What a fun memory...  Yeah, it was an interesting decade for a child with a perm and a lack of fashion sense...  :)
Anywhooooo...  What better representation of the 70's than a giraffe (my favorite animal, betcha didn't guess) wearing roller skates and touting "I love the Night Life"???  So my first card is just that!!  This A2 card base (5.5"x4.25") was jazzed up with a rainbow of ink colors that I sponged around the edges...  My raspberry background cardstock is embossed with the "Entangled" embossing folder from Couture Creations (a lovely gift from one of my Awesome Aussie friends)...
The giraffe can be found on the Birthday Bash Cricut Cartridge and is a "modified" cut at almost 4" (I used the "hide contour" feature to hide some of the "guide" cuts for the dots and face...  Since there was NO WAY I was going to use a mouth cut that was thinner than string -- those are some itty-bitty pieces!!).  My tie-dye ribbon was tucked away in a "special" spot reserved for The-Girl-Child...  I bet she'll be okay with a bit of it missing from the spool when she receives the card, right???  :)
Since this is a SUPER FUN giraffe on skates, I decided to put him on a "Wiggle-Wire"...  Wiggle-Wires are similar to "Action Wobbles" except I make them myself (and have been making them myself since before I ever heard of Action Wobbles -- Actually, I'm pretty sure I was making wiggly cards way back in the 70s!!  I also made postage stamps, envelopes, and notebooks for my Barbies, but that's a story for another day!!)...  Anywhoooo...  If you don't know how to make Wiggle-Wires yourself, there are plenty of videos out there now OR the Action Wobbles work quite well, so I won't bore you with those details unless you request a tutorial in the comments section...  Moving on...  This giraffe is a HOOT when he's wiggling away...  The-Girl-Child is going to get a kick out of this card!! :)
Now how about that sentiment???  Could it BE any more PERFECT???  hee hee...  This GROOVY mix-n-match sentiment can be found on the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set...  Which, incidentally, is the set I'll be featuring ALL week long for the Getting Cricky Preview Week (Did you miss yesterday's snowman card?  I hope you'll check it out)!!  If you find you can't go on without this set (how did you make it this long???), you can make this set YOURS by clicking here OR by clicking on the image below...

(BIG NEWS!!  To qualify for FREE SHIPPING on your purchase, be sure to enter amyfreeship at check out!!  WOWZERS!!  Gotta love a deal like that!! :)

K Andrew Designs

Remember I promised you a SECOND card???  Well, here it is....
How totally AWESOME is that???  (Sorry, I know that phrase is from the 80s, but I'm a little stuck in that decade too!!)...  This 5.5" square card was one of those happy "accidents" I sometimes have...  Basically, it just turned out too fun not to share it with ya...
You see, The-Girl-Child is obsessed with rainbows and peace signs...  She would have enjoyed the 70s (and probably would have been much more fashionable than I was!!)...  That green, wired "ribbon" around the edges reminds me of all the shag pillows that were so popular...  Are those making a comeback too???
The stars on this card were again attached with some Wiggle-Wires...  It makes the card just a little more...  um...  GROOVY!!  :)  I cut the "groovy" from the Feeling Groovy Cricut Lite Cartridge...  I used my Gypsy to adjust the size since I wanted it to fill up the front of the card.  I also cut both the base layer and shadow layer from white cardstock so that I could sponge the rainbow effect with ink...  Since the white cardstock was shockingly stark against the rainbow and purple, I inked the edges with some SU! Creamy Caramel...
Once again, this PSYCHEDELIC mix-n-match sentiment can be found on the Owly Hoo Stamp Art Sentiment Set (are ya seeing how VERSATILE this set is???  I haven't used an OWL yet!!)...  So if you're ready to make this Stamp Set YOURS now...  REMEMBER....  CLICK HERE TO ORDER and...
To qualify for FREE SHIPPING on your purchase, be sure to enter amyfreeship at check out!! :)
Thank you again for checking out my projects...  Now follow the links below and remember to visit all the stops for MAXIMUM ideas and LOTS OF FUN!!  Can ya dig it???
