Lasting Memories Layout Challenge: Let's CELEBRATE!! Feeling hot, hot, HOT!! :)

Love To Crop! es muy caliente today!! :)  I'm running a little behind this week, but if you haven't heard yet -- There's an AWESOME new challenge up at Lasting Memories!!  It's all about celebrations!!  Whether it's a graduation, a birthday, or any other special event, we want to see your layouts CELEBRATING!!  Here's mine:
Wanna know what we're celebrating???  Well...  A coupla things...  #1 We got to meet Dancing With The Stars' Mark Ballas...  #2  This is what The-Girl-Child and I did for our New Year's celebration last year (on the 2nd)...  #3  We were celebrating our birthdays because we received the tickets for "Burn The Floor" as birthday gifts from The-Grandparents...  #4  Anything I get to do with one of the kiddos is ALWAYS a celebration!!  :)
The show was simply amazing...  The talented performers captivated us from beginning to end -- And we left there wanting to hit a club for some salsa dancing!!  Instead, we stalked the stage doors to get pictures and autographs...  The chilly wait outside definitely paid off, and it's always a perk when the performers are generous with their time, pausing to take plenty of pictures...  Yes, there's a page two to this layout (and possibly a page three and four), but this one definitely sets the tone...
I cut this "hot" image from my "Shall We Dance" Cricut Cartridge (a Cricut Circle Exclusive from last year) at 8"...  I cut two layers of the shadow feature (one in red and one in gold) so that I could distress the layers and give it a "fiery" appearance.  The edges are also inked with orange and rust ink...
I found the "fire" image on the Dude Cricut Lite Cartridge...  I only used the two inside cuts (yeah, I haven't quite figured out how the cuts on that cartridge work yet!), distressed the edges with a distressing tool AND the orange and rust ink, and then added some gold stickles (brushed across for a neat sparkle effect).  Incidentally, that "burn the floor" photo that doubles as a title is actually a picture of the side of the show's tractor trailer truck!!  What a find as we rounded the corner to our car!! :)
I used gold colored staples to attach some 3 Girl JAM Crinkle Ribbon across the bottom of the layout.  I used the rust ink to blend the ribbon at the edges for more dimension...  I'm excited to continue this theme for the rest of our pictures with the cast and crew.  :)

Now it's YOUR TURN!!  So dig out your CELEBRATION pics and show off those layouts!!! We can't wait to see what you create this week!!  Want to see some more inspiration???  Be sure to check out all of my Design Team Sisters' AMAZING layouts!!  Check them out by clicking HERE!!  Be sure to enter YOUR celebration layout in the current challenge at Lasting Memories by this Saturday (March 3) at 9pm EST  -- When you do, you'll be entered in the AWESOME GIVEAWAY sponsored by ARTchix this week!!!

And here's what you're going to win!!! How COOL are these!!!!  Thank you to Marie for organizing this!!

Ohhhh... and one more thing... we have a BEAUTIFUL sketch from Heather Waldron at Scrapy Sketches for you take a whirl with if you should so choose!  *** Remember, the sketch is OPTIONAL ***

Think Spring Birthday Card, Digi Stamps, AND an award for some BLFs!! :)

Hello, hello, hello!!  How are you, my friends???  I want to thank you for taking a few moments out of your day to visit me -- If you are visiting my blog today, I'd love for you to leave me a comment with a link to your blog so that I can stop over and visit you too!!  If you're visiting via email, remember that you can always click "reply" to let me know if there are any crafty projects you'd like to see me tackle in the upcoming weeks...  I always look forward to the inspiration that others are willing to share!! :)

Now, onto what I have for you today...  There are two challenges that I just LOVE entering as often as I can...  And today I have a card that's eligible for both challenges (YAY!!  Love when that happens!!)...
Isn't that image just the SWEETEST???  It's a Digi Darla's image that I received for FREE for entering one of their previous challenges...  I thought it fit perfectly for their current challenge of "Think Spring" (and who's NOT thinking of Spring right now???  Especially after last year when it seemed the weather skipped from Winter to Summer, right???)...
I used the "Today is your day!" sentiment from the "Positive Thoughts" Stamp Art Set from K Andrew Designs on the inside of the card -- Perfect for a BIRTHDAY card!!
And since I added the BLING to the front of my card, it's eligible for the current challenge at Celebrate The Occasion too (birthday -- must use bling)...
This A2 card starts with a white cardstock base...  I cut a fuchsia piece of cardstock at just under 4.25"x5.5" so that just a peek of the white card base would show on the edges.  I used the Stampin' Up! Eyelet Border Punch along one long side, embossed it with a Darice embossing folder, and then adhered it to the card front.  Once it was adhered, I punched the open edge of the card with the Eyelet Border Punch to create a layer (the trick to this is not to slide the paper all the way in to the ledge of the punch -- then, carefully line it up down the edge for the layer).
My image is colored with Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen...  I added some 3 Girl JAM Crinkle Ribbon in a strip next to the punched edge and then tied a double loop bow to add to the center side.  My bling is courtesy of a grab bag find at my LSS...  I hope the recipient of my birthday card will enjoy that sweet image as much as I do!!  And speaking of the image....
What about those Digi Stamps???
Since I get a lot of questions about Digi Stamps now that I've been posting more than an occasional one or two....  Once upon a time, I had NO idea what a "digi stamp" was...  I didn't quite understand the idea of printing a digital "stamp" that really wasn't a "stamp" at all...  But after trying a few freebies from here and there, I discovered that I really LOVE digi stamps!!  I've been practicing my coloring techniques with some Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  Now, I find that if I have plenty of digi stamps printed out ahead of time, I can whip up a quick card for almost any occasion even if I remember that I need one "last minute"...  I use my Digital Scrapbooking Software (StoryBook Creator by Creative Memories) to organize all of my digi stamps.  I've made a folder for each of the artists/companies I like to frequent and save each of the digital images as embellishments.  This allows me to use the "rubber stamp this image" option in the software...  I can then resize the images to the size I'd like to use and then print out an entire sheet of images at once.  If you don't have scrapbooking software, or want a free trial of what I use, you can find a 30-day free trial HERE...

There are plenty of "free samples" for Digi Stamps out there to get you started...  So if you haven't tried them yet, maybe today is the day!!  Currently, I know of two sites that are offering FREE images...  The first is Digi Darla's (this is where the image I'm using today is from!), and the second is Dustin Pike...  I hope you'll check them out and try out some digi images -- Be sure to let me know if you try them and post a card or layout using digis...  I'd love to stop over and see it!! :)

Whoopsy-Daisy Make-Up Day -- Scrappin' for Kenzie's 1st Blogaversary Blog Hop -- Under the Sea!! :)

Welcome to my Whoopsy-Daisy Make-Up Day...
What's a Whoopsy-Daisy Make-Up Day" you ask??? Well..... If you're a regular visitor here at Love To Crop!, then you probably already know that I love to participate in Blog Hops... I have a bit of an addiction to them actually... Do you??? I think Blog Hops are a GREAT way to find new blogs to follow. Blog Hops inspire me to think outside the box and come up with something I think my Bloggie-Land-Friends (BLFs) might enjoy seeing... But I digress... Sort of...

Last Friday I was to participate in a Blog Hop for my BLF Michelle's Blogaversary... But due to a slip and a fall (anyone who knows me will tell ya that I'm a little unbalanced anyway!!), I was unable to finish my project in time for the hop... I didn't want to miss out on the fun, and I sure didn't want to miss out on sharing some REALLY creative talent with ya, so I decided to post today with a plea for you to hop through and see what everyone else created too... To make it EXTRA easy for you to do this, I've included DIRECT LINKS to each participants post below... You won't need to search for their blog hop post if you use the links I've included. I'd love for you to see what they've each created!! So... Without further ado... Here's my Blog Hop post for Michelle...

Welcome to the very first blogaversary for Scrappin' For Kenzie!

We're so happy you could join us!!  If you hopped along from Kimberly then you are in the right place! If you just happened to pop in today, or are reading this via email, then please start back at Michelle's blog, Scrappin' For Kenzie to make sure you see everyone's projects and don't miss any super creative ideas!

For this hop we were asked to choose one project that Michelle from Scrappin for Kenzie has made from her gallery or facebook and make our own project using hers as inspiration...

Here's a peek at my inspired project:
Does anyone know which of Michelle's projects inspired this one???  When I saw her darling "Under The Sea" box from early last year, I knew I wanted to create something with sea creatures....

I searched high and low for a square glass container I could use for this project...  I finally found one while I was out with my BFF, Christi...  It's a heavy glass "bowl" that measures about 7"x7" and 4" high...  I added a string of lights and several bags of glass gems and then set to work adding my sea creatures....
This entire collection of sea creatures (plus three more in the set) can all be found in the Ocean Set by Dustin Pike...  I printed these digi stamps no larger than 2"x3" so they would all fit in the bowl.
After coloring them with my SU! Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen, I fussy cut them all (whew! That's a lot of tedious cutting!!) so that I could add some loooooong wiggle wires to the backs.
I attached the other end of the long wiggle wire to the bottom of a glass gem...  This allows them to stand freely so that if I decide to let my sea creatures travel across my desk, I can!! :)
You may have noticed that each of my little ocean friends has a bit of shimmer and glimmer -- I added Stickles to some and used my Gelly Roll Stardust pen on others...  These aren't your ordinary sea creatures after all -- They need to SPARKLE and SHINE so that I'll SMILE every time I look at them (plus, the current challenge over at Dustin Pike's blog requires that you add some BLING, so it seemed EXTRA appropriate since I wanted to enter this project there!!)
I'm also loving how the iridescent ribbon that I added around the outside really adds some extra glitz too...  Even with the string of lights unplugged, it's sparkling like the stars on a cloudless evening. :)
I decided to add some fun phrases to my Under The Sea Night Light too...  See that intimidating-looking shark sneaking up on the fishie-fish???  He knows to "just keep swimming" now...
Mr. Crab there reminds us not to be crabby...  Be happy instead!! :)  Yeah, yeah, I know there's quite possibly someone in your life right now who might be causing you to be a bit crabby, but take Mr. Crab's advice....  And then you might find that the someone who is making you crabby....
... Thinks you're TURTLE-terrific!! :)  Side note here:  Don't you think that turtle is absolutely ADORABLE???  The-Turtle-Cat and I voted, and we think this turtle is soooooo Turtley...  Turtle, turtle, turtle!!  I like turtles...  ;)
To make the ocean "grass"...  I sponge inked some white cardstock with a medium and a light green ink (sorry, I didn't write the colors down, but both are SU!) and then cut 1/4"x5" strips...  I wrapped the strips around a skewer (a pencil, pen, or other cylindrical object would also work), and then attached two or three strips to the end of a toothpick with red tape.  Using the toothpick allowed me to place the ocean grass throughout the glass gems...
Ready to make an Under The Sea Night Light for yourself now???  Well, you're gonna need to pick yourself up a set of K Andrew Design's "Splashtastic Summer" Stamps...  You can get those HERE...  Remember, you can enter your project with a Pirate or Fishy theme in the Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge too!!
I'd also like to enter my project over at a fun new challenge blog I happened across...  Crafty Catz...  It's Challenge #121 I SPY .....SOMETHING BEGINNING WITH B...  I spy a Blowfish, some Beads (or glass gems), a Bow, some Bling, and a Bright way to light the night!! :)  See???
I hope you've enjoyed my "Make Up Day" project!!  I love to read your comments, so please take a moment to leave one...  Oh, right!!  Since it's a BLOG HOP, I have a little "Under The Sea" fun for one lucky commenter...  Be sure to leave a way for me to reach ya, in case you're my winner!! :)

Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge -- Bottoms Up, Matey!! :)

AHOY, and Happy Sunny Sunday to you, me hearties!!  I'd like to take a moment to say "WELCOME" to the newest Love To Crop! Friends!!  It always does my heart GOOD to see a new face in the crowd -- Each of you mean so much to me, so thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for taking the time to check out what's been on my craft table....

What I'm most amazed about this winter (aside from the lack of snow accumulation and freezing temperatures) is that I can't remember a single Sunday that hasn't been SUNNY!!  Isn't that AMAZING?!?  Once again, today the skies are blue, the sun (and SON) is shining, and the forecast is for a warmer day than yesterday!!  As my friend, Tammy over at Beyond Measure would say -- It's UBER-AMAZING (and if you haven't visited her post for this week, I hope you will -- tell her I sent ya -- she's such a FUN friend to have, and you'll leave there feeling better for stopping by!!

Another PLUS for Sundays is that it's once again the start of a BRAND NEW Simply Sunday Challenge over at Getting Cricky!!  The theme for this challenge is "Argh, Matey!!"...  We'd love to see your project with a PIRATE or FISHY theme!!  Let's go ahead and lay yer deadlights on what shivered me timbers for this challenge....
You may recognize this PiRAT as another from one of the newest collections by Dustin Pike...  I just made a card with another PiRAT from this set last week (see it here)...  But when I saw the "Bottoms Up!" sentiment, I just KNEW that this little guy was getting featured today!!  :)
Here's the front of my card (almost) closed...  The background is also from Dustin Pike (it's one of his new background sets that coordinates with the PiRAT set).  I colored everything with my Stampin' Up! Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pen...  One of the great things I've discovered about coloring is that I can do it almost anywhere, so I always have a sleeve of digi stamps ready to travel!!  Then, I can throw in my pencils and blender pen and take it along to the doctor's office, mechanic's wait area, the poop deck, or anywhere else I find myself with time on my hands (no, I'm not learning to color while driving!!)...
I decided to make this card an easel card since I wanted to add one of my homemade Wiggle Wires...  I just think it's an easier way to display these cards and get the full effect of the Wiggle that makes ya Giggle!! :)
You might think that's a mug full of arrack or bumboo, but I can assure you that this PiRAT enjoys his Jones' Root Beer Soda best of all (since the bottles make fine vessels for future craftin' projects!!)...   Some white Liquid Applique gives the mug a frothy top...
And, last (but certainly not least!), I added some Pirate FUN with not one, but TWO phrases found in my stamp loot...  Both of these sentiments can be found on the Pirate Tales and Fish Scales Stamp Art Sentiment Set...  Brush up on yer Pirate talk with this treasure of a set -- you can make it YOURS by clicking here...
Yo-ho-ho!!  I know you can't sit this challenge out, so Raise the Jolly Roger and link up YOUR creative project by Saturday, March 10 at 11:59pm EST...  I'll be on the lookout to see what ye be making!!  :)

Until next time,

Scooby Doo -- Where Are You??? Blog Hop -- All Aboard the Mystery Machine!! :)

Welcome to the "Scooby Doo -- Where Are You???" Blog Hop!!

I'm so glad you're here to see me today!! :)  If you've arrived here from Kimberly, then the Mystery Machine is traveling correctly down the path, and you are in the right place!! :)  But if you've been chased here by a ghost, narrowly escaped from a haunted mansion, or perhaps just popped over from your email or dashboard, then be sure to CLICK HERE and begin at the beginning so you don't miss any of the Scooby Snacks!! :)  Kari has some Blog-Hop-Goodies to tell you about, so I wouldn't want you to miss those details...

For the hop today I'd like to share The-Toby-Dog's version of Scooby Snacks AND a groovy Scooby card!!
I remember waking up early on Saturday mornings (way back in the 70's) to watch Scooby Doo with The-Big-Brother...  It's no secret that I was afraid of the dark, the creaks and groans of the house we lived in, and definitely the basement!!  However, I was always intrigued by the "mystery" of Scooby Doo...  And as long as my brother didn't try to scare me too much while we watched it, I usually made it through every episode....  So I was pretty excited about this Blog Hop -- I hope you are too!!  :)
The-Toby-Dog has been the PERFECT dog for our home for almost six years now...  We adopted him from a shelter when he was only ten weeks old.  He was an itty-bitty puppy with itty-bitty feet, but it didn't keep him from growing into 50+ pounds of still-hyper-puppy-playfulness!!  He's not a great dane like Scooby, but he's loyal and true and always by your side in the dark...  So I made him a bag of special Scooby Snacks!!  :)
I found some Scooby Doo stickers at my local LSS...  I mounted this one for the tag on orange cardstock and fussy cut around it before adding pop dots to the back...  I cut a purple oval and embossed it with a Sizzix embossing folder (I think it's a Build-A-Bear embossing folder, but I like it better for puppy prints!!)...  I also added the "yum!" sentiment found on the "Food For Thought" Stamp Art Set from K Andrew Designs.  I used the same stamp for the paper strip -- The-Toby-Dog hasn't learned to read yet, but if he could, I'm sure he'd agree that these treats are yum, yum, YUMMY!! :)
I also wanted to make a FUN and GROOVY card, so I decided to mount this really adorable sticker onto orange cardstock also, then again fussy-cut around Scooby...   I used the Feeling Groovy Cricut Lite Cartridge for the font as well as the flowers...  This is proving to be one of my favorite fonts to use!!  Isn't it FUN???  :)
I added one of my homemade Wiggle Wires (tutorial here) so that Scooby could strut and jiggle his way to the next mystery!! :)
I hope you've enjoyed my projects for today's hop!!  I have a little Scooby SURPRISE for one lucky person who leaves a comment on this post letting me know which character is YOUR favorite BESIDES SCOOBY (mine is Daphne -- cuz I love her red hair and fashion sense!!)...

Thanks again for visiting!!  Your next stop on our adventure with the Mystery Crew is... Colleen!!

If you've missed any of the stops, or would like to revisit anyone, you'll find a list of the entire hop below -- For your convenience, clicking on each link will take you DIRECTLY to each participant's post...  So you won't miss a thing even if you're joining us later in the week!!  :)

Decorate To Celebrate "All About Boys" PLUS -- Getting Cricky With It Surprise Blog Hop!! :)

Decorate To Celebrate! Challenge #19 -- All About Boys (ya gotta use BLUE!!)

** For the "Getting Cricky With It" Surprise Blog Hop, please scroll down...... **

A new challenge has begun over at the Decorate To Celebrate! Challenge Blog!!  This time, we're looking for all those decorations and party supplies celebrating the snips and snails and puppy dog tails in your life (that's nursery-rhyme-talk for LITTLE BOYS!!)...  There's a FUN TWIST on the challenge again as your project needs to include BLUE... It doesn't have to be ALL blue (as you'll see that mine are NOT), but you need to use BLUE somewhere in your project!!

There is, once again, some A-MAZ-ING projects from the Design Team -- I'd LOVE for you to take a look at what Jean, Lisa, Amy, Norma, and Rhonda have all created too!!  Here's what I hope to inspire ya with today...
In our house, we love sports...  As a mom, I've been happy to trek through mud and rain for cross country meets, sit for hours (or days) on hard, wooden bleachers in hot, sticky gyms for basketball games and wrestling tournaments, shiver beneath layers of coats and blankets for football games, and (my favorite) splash through puddles or bask in the sunshine at track meets!!  But when it comes to our favorite spectator sport as a family....  Well, take us out to the BALLGAME!! :)  Give us a Pirates' baseball game, and we are THERE!!  At any given moment, The-Boy-Child can tell you exactly how many days are left until Opening Day...  So what better way to celebrate our next get-together than with a Baseball-themed Party???
These cupcake toppers were created with the "Petite Pennants" Punch from Stampin' Up!, 3/4" baseball cuts from the Sports Mania Cricut Cartridge, some homemade Wiggle Wires, toothpicks, and the "Have a BALL" mix-n-match sentiment stamp from the "Splashtastic Summer" Stamp Art Set by K Andrew Designs...
I wanted to make the cupcake toppers FUN, so I added the Wiggle Wires so the baseballs could "float" above the pennants...  The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with white embossing powder on a blue pennant.  I used a second (red) pennant for the back and sandwiched the toothpick between the two with ATG adhesive.
These fun magnets are quick and easy to make -- And they make a great activity for kids to do too!!  We use the clear glass gems from the Dollar Store.  Since I cut about 130 3/4" baseballs out (using an 8.5"x11" white cardstock and the "auto-fill" on my Cricut), I had plenty of baseballs for these magnets, plus embellishments and even confetti!!  I used a red fine-tip marker for the stitching...  The baseballs are attached to the back of the glass gems with a touch of Glossy Accents before adding a magnet to the back of the baseball.  I put a half dozen in a little package that can be used as a favor or a little mini gift for the baseball fan in your life!! :)
My friend picked these adorable chocolate baseballs up for us (knowing how much we all love baseball!!), and I couldn't resist turning them into fun favors!!
I used the Cuttlebug "Tiny Bubbles" embossing folder for the blue cardstock, some "candy stripe" twine from My Memory Keepers, some more of my 3/4" baseballs, and the "Have a BALL" sentiment on a hand-cut tab...
And there ya have it!!  If you're not familiar with Decorate To Celebrate! yet, you'll definitely want to pop over there and check it out!!  DTC is all about favors, centerpieces, yard signs, banners, cakes, cookies, and any other party supplies or decorations you can think of -- ya just can't enter your cards and layouts...  It's so much fun to see how everyone decorates their parties and celebrations -- We'd LOVE to see what you come up with!!  :)

And now.....

Welcome to the “Getting Cricky With It”
Surprise Blog Hop for Kristal!!!

Today the Design Team is bringing you some very special projects created for our wonderful and amazing leader Kristal! The current Design Team term is almost over, and we wanted to show her just how much we appreciate ALL that she has done for us...  If you are interested in applying for the Getting Cricky Design Team, you can find the details for the new DT call HERE!!

The projects that we will be sharing in the hop will be sent to Kristal... We encourage ALL of her fans to join in on the fun as well!!  Be sure to add your card/project to the link found HERE... and then mail it off to her (you can find her address HERE) -- We know she'll just LOVE seeing your creativity in person!! :)
As you may know, Kristal loves OWLS, so I couldn't resist cutting this adorable owl found on the Hoot-N-Holler Cricut Lite Cartridge...  Of course, everyone LOVES to be reminded when they are "hoot-errific" so I couldn't think of a better sentiment for Kristal...
I used a Sizzix embossing folder (I think it's called Flowers and Vines, but I no longer have the packaging for this one)...  I picked this folder because I thought it matched the daisy on the owl's belly so perfectly!! :)  Since the wiggle makes me giggle, I added one of my homemade Wiggle Wires to the card -- I hope it makes Kristal smile every time she sees it!! :)
My sentiment is from the fabulous Mix-N-Match sentiment set "Owly Hoo" from K Andrew Designs...  To see more projects you can make with this versatile set, please CLICK HERE!!  :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  I hope I've inspired you to create a card or party favor or party supply today!!  If I have, be sure to leave me a message and let me know!! :)

I'm the very LAST stop in the hop today; however, if you've missed any of the stops, or would like to revisit anyone, you'll find a list of the entire hop below -- For your convenience, clicking on each link will take you DIRECTLY to each participant's post...  So you won't miss a thing even if you're joining us later in the week!!  :)
