For today's hop I made...
A fun and easy paper lantern perfect for a summer celebration, birthday party, or room decoration!!
I found this AWESOME Disney vellum at my LSS...  Intermixed with all of my favorite Disney characters is phrase after phrase of of fun Disney sayings ("Caring is in the little things," "Simple pleasures make my day," "Hey! What's the big idea?," "Always follow your dreams," and so many more...).
I created a cylinder using the Disney vellum -- This would be the base of my paper lantern.  I used Bazille cardstock at each end of the cylinder for added stability and support...
The outside layer of the lantern was created by first scoring an 8.5"x11" piece of vellum paper at 1", 4.25", and 7.5" (on the short side) and then making cuts every 1/2" between the 1" and 7.5" score lines.  The ends can then be joined (creating an outer cylinder) around the inside cylinder.  I used some Disney striped cardstock and yellow Bazille cardstock to create the ends of the lantern.
I placed an electric candle light inside the lantern to create a warm light...  A battery-operated votive or pillar candle could be substituted for wireless lighting as well...  Because these lanterns are easy to make, they would make GREAT party decorations!!  :)
My final touch on the paper lantern was this super-fun sentiment from K Andrew Designs "Splashtastic Summer" Stamp Art Set...  I just love adding "Shine on!" to any candle, light, or lantern!!  :)

Before you hop away...  I DO have a bit of Blog Candy for one lucky winner!!  I will be giving away a mini pack of Disney embellishments perfect for creating your next Mickey project!!  Wanna win it???  To be eligible to WIN, you will need to leave a comment letting me know WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY OF ANY DISNEY OR PIXAR CHARACTER??? (Is it a character from a trip to DisneyLand, Disney World, or Epcot Center???  Is it a character from your favorite Disney movie???  Is it a character from a Disney cruise???  or something else altogether???)...   :)

That vellum is super cool! I'd like to find some of that!

Now, hmmm...In college, my choir visited WDW and did all of the things that performing groups did there, including getting transported around backstage. The guy driving us around had Tigger feet! One of the girls asked if he was Tigger and he said yes. I gotta tell ya, it sort of ruined the mystique for us, even as adults that KNOW those are people in suits. The guy seemed apologetic and just a LITTLE embarrassed. It's still funny...

Amazing job!! Oh I want to try this!!! Thanks for sharing this idea. I would say that my favorite Disney Memory was getting to hug Winnie the Pooh on my second trip to Disney in 2006. I got to meet him as a little girl on my first so when I got to see him again for the second time it was very magical.

What a neat project!

Last year, we went to Disney with our daughter and she loves Rapunzel. We waited in the really long queue line and she finally got to enter the Rapunzel experience and color, dance, and get pictures with the princess.

Truth be told, she is quite smitten with Pascal. As we were finishing up pictures with rapunzel and Flynn, she said something about Pascal. One of the cast members actually went and got Pascal. She got to hold him and take pictures with him, too. It was such a fun memory for her :)

How cool is that!! We just returned from WDW for a trip to visit my son working there and to celebrate my birthday. My son likes Stitch and was wanting his autograph so he asked me to get it while I was waiting on them to ride Space Mountain. Now I'm not a fan so was speechless when he turned and gave a very slobbery lick to the side of my face just as the camera man took the pic. It was unforgetable. LOL

I adore that lantern. I have the same vellum, that I've been hoarding for 6 yrs now waiting for something fun to do with it. My favorite memory was when my girls met their first character in WDW, it was Daisy Duck and my youngest was just amazed!!

Love your paper lantern!! Such a cute idea!!

My favorite Disney Character Memory was a couple of years ago we went to WDW in September and wore buttons celebrating our Anniversary. When you wear the buttons all week you tend to forget they are there. We went to go see Mickey and MK and were lucky enough to see both Mickey and Minnie together.

We really just wanted a photo of our youngest with them both, but Mike and I were pulled in along with our teenage son and Tanner. They had us pose real fun with Mike giving me a kiss and Tanner covering his eyes!

It goes to show that in Disney, everyone is a kid!!!

Oh wow, very neat project!! I will have to search for that vellum you used -- it really "makes" it. Your idea is inspirational ... my crafty fingers are itching to go create one of these, or more, for my outdoor summer parties.

Favorite Disney moment: I have several, but the one that comes top to mind is this one: When my daughter Emily was 6, we took her to Disney and stayed at the Boardwalk resort. She then (AND STILL, at age 26) sleeps with her stuffed dog, "Bingo". Of course, Bingo made the trip with us to Disney, but we didn't want to lose him in the park, so we convinced Emily to tuck the stuffed dog into bed so he could rest during the day. When we came back to the room, the maid had changed the bed linens and of course, put Bingo on the dresser. WELLLLLL..... Emily was indignant that Bingo's nap was disrupted. She wrote a note that went like this: "Dear Minnie... Bingo needs his nap. Please keep him in bed. Love, Emily." Here, Emily SWORE that our maid in the hotel was Minnie Mouse. That would have been a sweet enough memory, but for the next 5 days of our stay, every day, "Minnie" would leave Emily and Bingo notes and treats, signing her note: "Love, Minnie" with mouse ears and a heart on it. One day even, "Minnie" put a little charm bracelet on Bingo's neck, like a collar, "Love, Minnie." It was SUCH a sweet gesture, and the real magic of Disney.

Fondly,

Fantastic project.

My favorite memory of a Disney character would be Goofy. My hubby and I took our sons to Disney World when they were little, and Goofy joked around with them. Made for a great day.

I went back for a visit and my friends and I went to Disneyland and as we were getting our picture taken with Pooh Eeyore and Tigger, Tigger put his arms around me and gave me a super squeeze and said I like her, She is the.cuddlest! I could not believe he talked. It was too funny. Okay that is my story ;) haha. Enjoy the day

Love your Disney lantern!!! I so need to give this a try. My favorite Disney character memory would have to be when my daugther meet Tigger for the first time. She was 2 ½ and when it was her turn to take a picture with him she stood right in front of him, looked at him from head to toe and stared bouncing up and down and than Tigger bounced up and down with her. So was so happy. Thank you for sharing your project and for a chance to win some blog candy. disneynut 4 life 22 at yahoo dot com
