Getting Cricky Simply Sunday Challenge: For the Troops!! :)

Happy Happy Sunday, everyone!! :)  Today is a VERY special day!!  My very favorite Navy veteran is celebrating his birthday today!! :)  Do you know who that is???  It's my wonderful DAD!!  Happy Birthday, Dad!! :)   In honor of my dad's birthday, I have a joke for you...
Two men were walking through the woods and came upon a big black, deep hole. One man picked up a rock and tossed it into the hole and stood listening for the rock to hit bottom. There was no sound... He turned to the other guy and said, "That must be a deep hole!! Let's throw a bigger rock in there and listen for it to hit bottom."
The men found a bigger rock and both picked it up and lugged it to the hole and dropped it in.  They listened for some time and never heard a sound...  Again, they agreed that this must be one deep hole and maybe they should throw something even bigger into it.
One man spotted a rail-road tie nearby. They picked up the tie, grunting and groaning, and lugged it to the hole.  They tossed it in.  No sound.  All of the sudden, a goat came flying out of the woods, running like the wind, flew past the men and jumped straight into the hole. The men were amazed!!
About that time, an old hayseed farmer also came out of the woods and asked the men if they had seen a goat.  One man told the farmer of the incredible incident they had just witnessed...  "Just a moment ago, we saw a goat fly out of the woods, run and leap into that big hole!  Could this have been your goat?"
The old farmer replied "Nah, that couldn't be my goat...  He was chained to a railroad tie."
Don't ya just love pointless humor?  I hope no one was sipping a Diet Coke while reading that...  hee hee :)

Okay...  Ya know what else today is??  It's Simply Sunday Challenge Day over at Getting Cricky!!  This week, the challenge is to create something "For The Troops!"!!  Most of my Design Team Sisters and I will be featuring the Freedom Isn't Free" Stamp Art Set from K Andrew Designs...
$1 from the sale of each "Freedom Isn't Free" stamp set is donated to Intrepid Fallen Heroes -- a non-profiit organization that provides rehabilitative services to US military members who are severely disfigured from combat.
This card is very similar to the card that my family handed out to veterans on the 4th of July.  It is also similar to the cards that I made for last week's "Let's Get Cricky" DT Blog Hop for the "Run for the Fallen" in Maine that we are sending cards for...  I had asked visitors to leave a comment with something they would like added to one of my cards -- These sentiments are being added to almost FIFTY cards!!  Any that Rebecca doesn't need will be sent to Operation Write Home to be used as "Hero Mail" -- Thank you to everyone that left a note for our troops!!  I really appreciate your help!! :)  **If you missed out on leaving a note for them during last week's hop, please feel free to leave one with your comment today -- I'll be happy to make up a few more cards and include your note. :)
On this wonderful Sunday -- a day of celebration for my family and I -- I hope you'll also take a moment to celebrate too!!  Celebrate the sun, celebrate the rain, celebrate the moments you get to share with someone special today, and celebrate freedom...  Then pop on over to Getting Cricky and enter YOUR card to "For the Troops!!"  I can't wait to see what YOU create!! :)

If you would like to see all of Kristal's stamp sets and learn more about the charities she is supporting, please click on the blinkie below...

I sure hope you've enjoyed my post and project on this extra-special day to me...  If you're looking to enter to WIN some Blog Candy, I sure hope you'll stick around and check out these Blog Hops for your chance at some Blog Candy Goodies!! :)
