Haunted House Hop -- Is it a TRICK or a TREAT??? It sure is SWEET!! :)

Well, hello, my pretties...  Welcome to the Haunted House Hop!!  Beware! This is a blog hop of haunted houses where Halloween fright is glowing in the windows as ghosts and witches fly through the air...

Please join us and hop along starting with Jearise, our hostess... She has provided some Halloween blog candy for all those that leave comments along the way. The drawing will be on October 6th using Random.org. The winner will receive: K & Company Ghostly Greetings 12 x 12 paper pack, Stickles distress glitter glue pack, and EK Sticko's haunted house sticker pack.

If you have traveled from Jessica, then you are on the right road...  When you're finished here, please continue over to Robin. If you got lost and found yourself on my doorstep by mistake, you can head to the beginning of the road here: Jearise's blog....

Now what do you suppose I've created for your viewing pleasure today???  Could it be...  Would it be...  A haunted house with goodies inside???  See for yourself....  ;)
Well that looks like a rickety old house, don't ya think???  It's not too late to turn back if you're afraid!!
Oh my...  Yes...  A little rickety, I'd say...  I cut the windows from yellow and purple at slightly varying sizes, hand drew the window lines, inked the edges, and penned in some spider webs...  The door was also hand cut and inked, and I drew the bat on the door since I think bats are a little more than spooky!!
The moon is attached to the roof of the house with a spring (a twist of wire that I twisted up myself)...  The bat (just the base image cut at 1.5" from the Happy Hauntings Cricut Cartridge and colored with a Precious Elements green pen and white Signo pen) is also attached to the moon with a spring so it wiggles and jiggles away...
I think there's some"thing" just inside that window at the tippy-top there....
Oh LOOK!!  A place to hide a bit of candy (or perhaps a hairy spider!!  Eeeek!!)....  I embossed the "wall" with the Cuttlebug "Bricked" embossing folder...
Do you think that door looks inviting???  Perhaps you'd like to go inside???  Maybe we'll just remove the roof instead....
What's that???   A peek of space???  A second floor???  Let's go in for a closer look....
Well there's enough room there for a whole bag of Candy Corn...  Or a stack of photos...  Or perhaps some memorabilia or tickets from a hay ride...
What's that???  The second floor comes off as well!!  Would ya take a look at THAT!!  :)
A peek at the inside while closed....
And as it starts to unfold....  It reveals space enough for up to 24 pictures (as large as 4"x6"!!)...  Additionally, there are hidden pockets for journaling tags or extra pictures (all the photo mats are attached on only three sides to allow for this)...
I used my Sizzix "Plaid" embossing folder on the apple green cardstock...  The purple cardstock was embossed with Couture Collections "Tangled" embossing folder...  You can't see them in this picture, but there are glow-in-the-dark googly eyes attached to the ribbon on the purple layer for a little extra SPOOK!!
All the decorative paper is from the brand new Creative Memories Cheerful Halloween Additions Kit...  Isn't that polka dot paper with the little spiders just adorable???  I also used Purple, Black, Yellow, and Apple cardstock for the other layers of the house...
To make the layered roof tiles, I punched a whole bunch of black strips using my Stampin' Up! Scalloped Edge Border Punch and then layered them across the roof before trimming the edges...  The spider web punch is from Martha Stewart Crafts...
This house was incredibly fun to create...  If you are already a follower of mine (especially by email so that you don't miss a thing!), then you may already know how much I LOVE to create these "transformer" explosion boxes...  It's quite fun to think of new ways to turn something basic into a "transformer" box (something that doesn't look like it would reveal an explosion box)....   I get a lot of questions about how long it takes me to make these -- The answer varies for each box.  This one took about 8 hours, I think.  Some take less time, and some take more, but each one is unique!!  I also have many people ask about templates and tutorials -- I do not follow any templates or tutorials, but rather come up with all the measurements by trial and error.  And while I'd love to provide a tutorial for ALL of my boxes, I just haven't figured out a way to do this without hours and hours of video tutorials or piles and piles of pictures...  I do have something in the works though, so if these are something you'd like to try, I hope you'll keep on coming back!! :)
I'd like to thank Jearise for including me in this SUPER FUN Hop --  I'd also like to thank  all of my wonderful friends and followers who take the time to hop through and help make this such a WONDERFUL hop!!  Now....   Before you leave...  What's a hop without some GOODIES???

I have a little blog candy for you!!  I will be sending a pack of 6x6 paper and embellishments to one fabulous winner!! :)

To be eligible for my blog candy:

  • Please become a follower of my blog and leave me a comment answering this FUN question: "What was your most memorable Halloween costume??? (mine is -- the year I dressed as a deviled egg!!)?"!!
  • Receive a BONUS chance when you subscribe via email (enter your email address in the box at the top of this page -- you do not need to leave a second comment, all newly confirmed email addresses will be added to this drawing).
  • You will also receive a BONUS chance should you decide to follow Love To Crop! via Networked Blogs OR "Like" the Love To Crop! facebook page (again, automatic entries by notification, no need to comment)...
If you leave your email address (please leave it in SAFE scrapbookingwithamy at gmail dot com form), I will be happy to contact you if you are the winner; otherwise, you will need to check back to see if you are a winner.  No captcha here, so commenting is quick and easy!! :)

I'm a follower. This explosion box / house is fantastic. What a great way to keep Halloween Memories. I would have loved to see a photo of you as a develed egg. Sounds funny. My favorite costume was the year I dressed with a sign on my chest that said Lost dog, last seen couch. Then on the crease of my butt I pinned a beanie baby dog. LOL

OMG! You have just blown me away! What a TERROR-IFIC project! I have been a follower of your blog plus on FB as well as subscribing. I didn't want to miss anything you post! You are a fabulous designer of these explosion boxes. I have yet to make one but you always get me to want to try to create one!

As for the costume, I have never been one to dress up for the holiday. Now that I have a little boy, the holiday has a new meaning to me. This year will be fun as he now understands what we are doing. I'm making his costume & mine. He will be Geo from Team Umizoomi & I will be Millie Measure (Geo's sister) & I am making a stuffed character of Bot, their robot sidekick. TFS!

My favorite costume was a princess..I used my cousin's prom dress which back then had all of that full tulle fabric and then my next door neighbor helped me fashion one of those tall dunce cap type of princess hats using fabric from where her dad worked..The Metallic Casket Co!! Yep I had casket velvet on my head!!! LOL

OOOPS! I was so excited about the box, I forgot to mention that my favorite costume was when I was young & skinny (100 yrs. ago) & dressed as a "French Maid" with my "Butler" husband.

I don't know what to comment on first, the fact that you dressed like a deviled egg (I want to see pics!) or yet another unbelievable explosion box. I think you've just earned another title...Explosion Box Queen. Pretty soon, I'm going to run out of titles for you. Maybe I should just go with Wonder Woman and let that cover everything.

Oh my goodness, this is AWESOME!!!! I never expected it to open, such a cute idea. My girlfriend has a Halloween party every year and this would be such a cute decoration and add the pics and stuff from the year before so everyone can see. Your such a clever crafter! Think you will do a tutorial....just hoping because no matter how many times I try and explosion box its my temper that ends up exploding, but this is just to cute not to try.

I ALMOST forgot to include what my all time favorite costume was...What a dork I am!!!

A friend of mine I used to work with had the most awesome Halloween party every year for several years & I was part of the multi-day decoration/set-up crew....This party was an EVENT! My annual costume theme was "wench" I played the part well...and my favorite costume was the year I was a MEDIEVAL WENCH...it was AWESOME. I shocked SO MANY people, left people unable to speak, and looked SOOO good...I have used pictures in that costume for my profile pic online a few times(it's that time of year, you'll prob see it soon) and the one I use is one of the few pics that I actually like of myself.
